THE NAME

POMANIA

When I started to imagine this project, I wanted a name that evokes nature, sweetness, shared moments. We instinctively thought of the apple: it is the fruit of everyday life, the universal fruit, the one we bite into without thinking, the one we share a neighborhood with... but I wanted to go even further, to add a deeper resonance .

We then thought of Pomerania, a region that is part of my family history. This name carries with it a soft and warm sound, an intimate connection with my roots, and evoked something comforting for me, like a childhood memory .

We played with the sound, trying to lighten it, and thus POMANIE was born!

Later, digging into this name further, we discovered that the Latin word Pomosa means "rich in fruit". A coincidence? Perhaps.

But above all a sign that this name was the right one.

POMANIE is a tribute to nature, to the richness it offers us and to memories. A name that carries with it authenticity , abundance and the taste of simple moments .

BEHIND THE NAME

OUR HISTORY

For 15 years I was a works engineer on architectural heritage restoration sites. Coordinating, imagining solutions, preserving what already exists while bringing renewal... There I developed my attachment to noble and natural materials , to their texture, their durability, their aesthetics.

When my first child was born, I looked for a soft, waterproof, beautiful, pleasant to the touch changing mat for our tiny little bathroom. Nothing met my expectations. Then the following year my twins arrived, three babies in 14 months and my need grew with them: I was now looking for a comfortable, compact, large, light, waterproof, easy to clean space, to take everywhere outside where we could all sit together, without stress and without constraints .

I couldn't find it, so I imagined and designed it.

But between the idea and the marketing, 4 years passed. 4 years of research in parallel with my projects, 4 years of tests, of questions (a lot), of closed doors, then which gradually opened, one after the other...

I explored materials, tested textures, looked for an alternative to rigid, plastic surfaces. Finding the right material, one that would be soft, resistant, consciously produced, was not easy.

Then it was necessary to find partners for the manufacturing and printing. Workshops on a human scale, close to home, with unique know-how and reasonable minimum production quantities.

My demands for beautiful materials and my taste for sustainable solutions guided each choice.

And that's how POMANIE was born.

A mat designed from natural fibers, designed to be beautiful, soft, functional, durable, and without compromising on composition.

A mat designed for all those who want more simple moments and fewer constraints.

    and designed to accompany your entire family on a daily basis. Our mats comply with the strictest regulations by conforming to CE standards 71-, 71-2, 71-3, a safety requirement normally reserved for toys for children under 3 years old.
